History of Living Hope |
|
Living Hope Community Church began in November of 1993. We started as a small group with a desire to exprience freedom in worship, youth involvement, and spiritual growth. On November 23, 1993 the first official worship service was held at the Fox Lake Town Hall. The space was just large enough to hold all of us! After worshiping in that facility for about 2 months we were blessed to move to Bethany Presbyterian Church in Randolph, WI. Our time at Bethany was a time of growth but we continued to feel God calling us to the Fox Lake area and the surrounding community. In February of 2003 we were able to move our congregation into the Fox Lake Elementary School. We now had a place for worship in the gym, plus access to classrooms for Sunday School and other activities.

In 2005, we decided it was time to make another move. By God’s grace, we had reached a unified point that it was now time to build a new facility in the Fox Lake Community to expand our investment in God’s kingdom. Despite our fears, doubts and short-comings, we were being compelled to move forward and build in faith. We kicked off a capital campaign that summer which we appropriately called "Getting Out of the Boat...Building in Faith." We had three reasons for this move which aligned with our mission: To enhance our Worship, to build our Body Life, and to propel our Ministry. God blessed us right from the start by leading our congregation to pledge more than three times what had been estimated. We were able to start our building project in early 2006, and we had our first service there on New Year's Eve of 2006.

And so, at a little over 13 years of age, Living Hope Community Church finally had its own building! As we made the transition into this stage of our life, we also wanted to make sure we didn't lose focus of who Living Hope really is. It was at this point that we defined our core values, as well as the vision of "Creating community where lives are fulfilled by following Christ." We wanted to make sure that this building didn't become just a safe place for us to worship, but rather another tool in our ministry efforts to share the Living Hope of Christ with the community of Fox Lake. Since we have opened the doors of our new facility, God continues to bless us with increased growth in both numbers and spirituality. Praise God for the work he is doing here!
