Sunday School

Sunday School is our opportunity to minister specifically to our Pre-K to 12th grade students.  Through this ministry we seek to teach kids more about God and more about our faith.

If you are looking for a place to serve, you have a heart for kids, and have the gift of teaching, then Sunday School would be a great place for you!  We need quite a few energetic teachers every year to help make this ministry a success.  As our Church body increases in numbers, so do the number of students.  This year is no exception!  In fact, we need to split up some of the classes because they are getting too large.  In order to do that, we need even MORE teachers this year in the past.

What is involved in being a teacher?

  • We split the year into 4 quarters of 7 weeks each.  Each teacher is asked to teach one quarter, more if they are willing.
  • There is some preparation involved each week.  It's not substantial, but in order to be successful, it is necessary.  Depending on curriculum, this is maybe 3-6 hours per week.
  • The Sunday School ministry is held right after the morning service, from 11:00-12:00.  Teachers need to be in their classrooms soon after church ends in order to supervise the kids.

What are the requirements to be a teacher?

  • First and foremost, you must have a personal relationship with Christ.  We prefer that teachers are members of LHC, but that is not a requirement.
  • Second, you must have an excitement for teaching kids about God and our faith.
  • Third, you must be willing to come prepared each week to make this ministry a success.
